I wasn't under the impression that it was all that many, but that any
single priest with that bent was more likely to have gotten away with
many instances in the past, and now that it's being talked about, a fair
number of victims are coming out all at once.

Knowing what I know now, if my kid came home saying that a priest had
molested him, my first call would be to the police, not that priest's
supervising bishop.  (I'm not Catholic, nor will I raise my children
Catholic, but I don't see the harm in my kid hanging out with Catholics
-- it didn't do me any harm, at least none that had anything to do with
anyone being Catholic.)
