There is this bizarre idea among certain folks that equality means sameness. Yes, everyone should be treated equally, but they shouldn't be treated the same, if that makes any sense.
I've always though Title IX was a bad idea, particularly since it only hurts the sports that need the school's support. No university is going to dump football or basketball when men's sports that don't bring them any revenue such as gymnastics or track can get the axe instead. As much as I hate to agree with Will about anything, he's got the right of it here. It's ridiculous to punish men for women's disinterest in sports.
