Generally I tend to agree with you about spoilers - a good 30 lines of
spoiler space is appreciated by those who just can't stand to know
things about upcoming books/movies/political elections[0], but how is
someone supposed to know what a spoiler is and is not?  FREX, its
bleeding obvious to most people that SWIII is going to be a dark movie -
how does a subject line like "Star Wars III To Have A Dark Ending?"
reasonably give things away?
