The one that would take the least amount of time to get to from here
(another one might be closer, but it's not freeway between here and
there) is open 24-7. I just haven't been because if I'm going to a
restaurant without Sammy, IHOP is near the bottom of the list, and if
I'm going to a restaurant *with* Sammy, there are a couple that I'd much
rather go to (Mongolian BBQ on N. Lamar and Tres Amigos at 290 & 183,
for the 2 other people familiar with Austin restaurants, and yes they're
a lot further away but *that* isn't too much of a problem) and the staff
at both those places recognize us and like Sammy, so we mostly stick
with what's working. Oh, and I haven't figured out what he could
attempt to eat at IHOP, whereas at the other two places I *have* figured
it out. Plus it's easier to get seated at Sammy's regular places at a
table where the high chair can be put safely out of the way of people
carrying trays, while at IHOP, they've had a tendency to seat us at a
booth and stick the high chair out in the aisle, which makes me nervous.
So about the only reason I'd go to IHOP right now would be if someone
planted an irresistable urge for blueberry French toast in my mind, and
so far, I can resist. :)
