My uncle Vicente went through surgeries on both his eyes. He's just about 100% blind now.
It occurs to me that machine to neuron interfaces are very important in vision corrective procedures. If the eye [God made this, batting .997] is so damaged that it cannot provide sight, then it should be replaced. We have been doing this for decades with glass eyes, no need to stop that. Except we now can put in a real lens and a real nerve interface, with electrically sensitive diodes similar to my son's toy, which is merely a bank of pins that retains an image. This will work, but research should be done to refine the image, which means getting really thin pins or something else [the plasma monitors, how do they handle pixels?]. Fake eardrums, gosh, tons of things can be done. Now can I go home now?
