Smallville is beyond any doubt, my absolute favorite TV program.
You can have your Star Treks and Buffys, Smallville kicks ass and IMHO is
the best genre program on television today.

Smallville is the story of Clark Kent (This is is not about superanything,
and is planned that way from the beginning). Clark is a likeable high
schooler in Kansas, but Clark has a secret, and the secret drives him nuts
and puts something of a barrier between him and his peers.
And Clark is slowly getting stronger and more powerful, and it scares him.
He is really unsure of just who he is and how he should fit into the world.

Basicly its the formula for Spiderman as applied to the most well known
cultural American icon of the 20th century. And the formula works.
The first season has been somewhat formulaic, but It appears that that was
done with intent, in order to fill in the background more completely and
flesh out the characters more fully.

The season finale brought all the loose ends together and left you with a
great cliffhanger. It bodes well for the second season, and I for one wait
with great anticipation.
