If something is sent to Jeroen's work address with "the list" in the
subject line, it bounces back. As someone likely to get error messages
from this list, I'd appreciate it if folks could refrain from including
the 8-character string "the list" in any subject lines.
I'm not going to do anything to anyone who slips up and does that,
except ask them to try not to do it in the future, unless someone is
obviously doing it for the heck of it to annoy me, in which case I
invite anyone who wishes to reply to them off-list with a smug rejoinder
to do so. (If it's not obvious that it's being done as a deliberate
annoyance, then someone who's actually getting an error message will
post a reminder not to do so.)
Oh, and however bad this is, I don't think this list will ever come up
with anything like the boo-boo I saw on another mailing list last week:
Someone attaching a number of .jpg's to an e-mail, such that the total
volume of data associated with that e-mail was on the order of 3
MEGABYTES, and then the reply to complain about it that accidentally
included all the attachments! :)
