Seconded. I will now churn out my usual list of SF/Fantasy recommendations: The Gap Series by Stephen Donaldson (as recommended by The Fool) - his description says it all. It's also interesting because the three main characters all swap roles during the series - hero, villain, victim. It's epic stuff. Only Forward by Michael Marshall Smith - SF/fantasy/horror/thriller. Genre crossing insanity with superb touches of wit. To say any more would give away the plot. Read it! Perdido Street Station by China Mieville - steampunk fantasy/horror. World building on a massive scale and a gloriously realised metropolitan setting. Heavily inspired by Gormenghast. Use of Weapons by Iain M Banks - Culture novel. Two diverging story threads going in opposite directions wrt time. A really really fcuked up protagonist. Dark, bleak, and unrelenting. Lal GSV Rich, can you describe Use of Weapons because I've quite clearly failed in my attempt. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The information contained in this e-mail is confidential and solely for the intended addressee(s).
