I agree. I like the critter pictures, but I would like to
see more general pictures and info. Hopefully, the upcoming
revised GURPS Uplift will fill in more of those gaps.

I figured they would at least have the color painting of the
Thennanin I have on my site. Even though they decided to go
with a Jim Burns painting for the cover illustration, I wish
they'd put it and more pictures in a small section of color
plates in the middle. Jim Burns *has* pretty much become the
official Uplift cover artist in the US, so I can understand
why they made that decision. A fan can just glance at a Jim
Burns cover, with high-tech dolphins and/or chimps, and know
it's an Uplift book. The Thennanin painting isn't nearly as
recognizable.

I love those guide things. I also own the Ringworld guide
book -- which was just a distillation of info from the
Chaosium Ringworld RPG, but still cool.
