        Thanks for the links!  I've finally pieced together what is 
being claimed.  The proposed mechanism for the circular polarization
is scattering off of elongated dust grains aligned with a magnetic
field.  Depending on the field, either kind of polarization and
either kind of amino acid could predominate.  The above link then
makes it clear that all that is being claimed is that our solar
system may have formed in a region where left-handed amino acids
predominated.
