I have pictures in a magazine of some Malay Mo's. One is dated 1902, from a wedding during a campaign by General Jake Smith, and colorized faithfully. She's dark, beautiful, simple manner, very dark hair, long and straight, and not atypical for a filipina today, though not "family". Pictures of males are similar, but there's an undercurrent of humor not lassitude, and strength of character not strength of arms. Such people would be attractive wherever they went, I suppose, though I can't confirm. There's no trace of sadness or angst that I can see. Pics available upon request, but I'd rather y'all go out and find them yourselves. I suppose I'm atypical in some ways [tamad na tamad], but typical in others [shit eating grin].
