Yes, it is perfectly all right. You have the option to ignore it since I'm not going to try to force my will upon you. Perhaps I should have rephrased your statement, since it wasn't very specific. "Their discomfort" does mean something, all other things being equal, I'd rather people were not upset if that can be achieved by simply ignoring something.
