True - there's nothing big away from the water. Sharks and Crocs are the 
big (in size) predators. Even the remaining land based carnivores are 
rare now, as much due to feral introduced species as hunting (by both 
Aboriginal and European hunters). The critters that make Oz so dangerous 
are mostly snakes and spiders (and reef dwellers) - we have most of the 
top ten most poisonous of each. We also have some seriously cute stuff. 
My kids have pet water dragons that come when called, beg for food, 
enjoy petting and generally interact. They also bear an uncanny 
resemblance to the raptors in Jurassic Park... I actually named one of 
them Crichton, but that was because his camouflage was "disrupted" as 
though he'd been through the QM machine in "Timeline" too often.
