How about something like this as a suggestion to be included in the welcome
message/FAQ/whatever it's called for both the current and whatever new
list(s) is/are created:
"Before pressing [SEND], read your post again and ask yourself how you
would feel if it were addressed to you. Especially if it's a real
zinger. If you wouldn't be happy receiving it from someone else, chances
are no one else will be happy receiving it from you."
Just a suggestion awaiting your feedback . . . or, in the words of Susan
Storm Richards's younger brother: "Flame on!"
