Why not the other way around? Make the Poaglisis 1.6 M
and the T'4Lek 470 thousand? It seems that those billion-old
races are against what the books say about the lifecycle
of the races, in average: 100,000 years of identure,
then 1,000,000 years of active participation, then
 retirement.

And it seems unlikely that any race that witnessed the
Gronin Collapse [HR, Part4, p.312, "Gillian"] would
 still be poking around.

The Soro are 2.1 million years old. [CA p.36] and from p. 148 the T'4Lek
history is longer than the Soro's. The billion year old races are the
exception to the rule. That's probably why Brin's having so much fun throwing
them in our faces.

As in the Poaglisis need the sapients they meet to be clothed, but their
former clients, the T'4Lek, have no clothes.

I'm waiting for the race of giant beach balls to show up for the universe's
largest croquet match ever.
