Intro to about the second chapter to Brightness Reef. Yup. I never noticed it
or thought anything about this one little line until after reading Temptation
and then going back to BR. Ah, Dr. Brin, just how sneeky are you trying to
be. ;-)

No data :-(

Actually, being lucky in skimming pages, I find that it was headed towards
Jijo's biggest moon. HR page 520. Again a detail I didn't keep in memory.
Lunar orbit or swing around is most likely.

I *think* all galactic-based technology depends heavily on hyperspace.
With Galaxy Four being detached from hyperspace, I imagine that
*all* galtech would fail miserably. This would *include* everything that
the Buyur left, because they are just another bunch of Library-sucking
Galactics.
--------
The Jophur landed on Jijo in small craft. Lifeboats, scouts, shuttles. HR
page 517.
They aren't going to dump the ships in the sea. There are no longer any
Galactic rules.

But I do think that if all of the Library units dummy down, this means that
they are psionically linked and that they have been lying to the Galactics
for over two billion years. You don't need to go to Tanith to get a better
answer.

I think it would be better to keep the Library units independent of each
other.

Oh. Did you catch the fact that in Sundiver or Startide Rising, in the
glossary, Brin has it that the Progenitors set up the Library. That's not the
way it is stated in later works.

Two whales? A host of Pring? Where did you get these?

You have got to go out and buy Contacting Aliens. It isn't just a list of
aliens. It has a few short stories that have to be plot sources for what may
come next.

Also, think of the implications if whales can move planetary bodies, and can
travel back and forth to the other galaxies.

AND NO ONE ELSE CAN!

(Yikes.)

BTW: I have *no* idea about the relative date of _Temptation_
and the end of _Heaven's Reach_. I think _Temptation_'s end
precedes the breaking of Galaxy 4, otherwise all Buyur tech
would fail before the end of the book.

The Buyur knew the break was coming. Their technology works. That's they way
Dr. Brin set it up. Now I do think that these same Library-sucking
Galactics won't be able to do more that to change a light bulb when something
of theirs breaks and the instructions aren't in the Library.

You do the physics. I'll dream up the whacky.
