My favorite takes a bit of setup and is a little bit different:

In college, a friend of my roommate was referred to as a "weirdness magnet"
because strange people were constantly drawn to her. My sophomore year, I
started having similar experiences. So we decided that somehow I had become
a weirdness magnet too. My roommate and I were walking through a crowded
section of campus discussing this situation. I decided that he was a
"carrier" and had passed it to me. He disagreed. I said "It is a disease
AND YOU GAVE IT TO ME!" That last part my voice got a little loud. People
all around stopped and stared at us. There really wasn't anyway to recover
so I just blushed and slunk away.
