David,
Would you be so kind as to entertain us by taking the test (takes only a few minutes) and tell us the result? Inquiring Brin-L minds would like to know.

I went ahead and took this 'test', even though the biases of the test designer are obvious right from the start. For example, about a dozen 'sweet' answers give you Ursula LeGuin, some of them contradictory, but none of them featuring bigoted narrowmindedness.

I tried to answer for myself, but find I want to punch several answers at once. The assumption is that people slot into interests and a major trait of the BEST sf authors will be -- as soon as you find yourself slotted -- to try something else for a while.

My first set of answers got me labeled as ROBERT A HEINLEIN.

When I switched my asnwer to #1 from 'individuality vs tyranny" to "Exploration and discovery" I instantly became ISAAC ASIMOV. These two results do not displease me of course. Though anyone who thinks Isaac was an archetype of an exploratory author has a weird tak on things.

When I then switched my answer to #2 from "sociology" to "genetics" I became ALFRED BESTER. Again, I ain't offended! Switching this again to "astrophysics" turned me back into Isaac.

Being unwilling to suffer fools gladly turned me into Arthur C Clarke.

I finally got one of the killer bees by not suffering fools, not letting others talk, having theories and considering the glass twice as full as it oughta be. Even though it appears that Greg Benford (much to his surprise) voted for Al Gore.

I was unable to find Greg Bear or KS Robinson or myself.

Someone let me know if you do.

But honestly folks. Ain't it too silly for lifespan?
