Hi again, all!

I was part of Brin-L back in the Cornell days, unsubbing in 1997.

I just read David Brin's article in today's Salon, and was gratified to see his praise of Harvard Lampoon's Bored of the Rings.

Now, I've long been a Tolkein fan, but I've also treasured BotR.

Among other things, its poetry is more memorable than the original! (Imagine if the LotR movies had people bursting into song as often as the books do! It would make Oklahoma look like a silent movie in comparison! Hmmm .... "There's a glowering haze over Mordor .." But I digress.)

It struck me recently how influentual BotR has become. Harvard Lampoon begat National Lampoon begat Saturday Night Live ...

Just thought I'd pop by and mention it.
