Chewing on the leaves of the plant that ridiculous westerners distill
into cocaine helps the body work better at high altitudes?

Disinfectant for wounds.

Can possibly be used as a propellant for fire. (Is propellant the right term?) So, if you're stuck in the Alps and need a fire to survive....

I've also seen a few B movies where the town drunk escaped being poisoned by something in the drinking water.
