Actually, just to interrupt this praise of what is also now my hometown - crime? What crime? New York City has a lower crime rate than London. Lower, in fact, than most European cities. It has even continued to drop. There isn't a big city in the Western World where you are safer than you are in New York. Combine that with a superb subway system and traffic is hardly a problem for me, anyways. As for pollution - well, in terms of air pollution New York is no worse than any other big city I've been to, and while it isn't as frighteningly clean as German cities (I actually don't think anyone _lives_ in Munich, it's all just a front they put up for tourists...)
