Man, its been a couple years, and I'm really only familiar with Manhattan, but I'd say 
hit the rush tickets outlet in Times Square and see at least one show on the cheap - 
its worth it :)

If you do drive in a metro area and aren't 100% comfy with it, the best advice is just 
go slow, don't get bunched up by it, and don't worry about pulling off into a gas 
station to check the map :)

(oh yeah, and the diamonds painted into that lane off to the side are carpool/bus 
lanes only... as I found out at 8:30am one sunday morning in Pittsburgh.. I also 
learned that its not a good idea to drive the wrong way down a one-way street... ;D)
