Like you, I also wonder about that bizarre earth curvature compensation
comment. Build each towers straight up (from the center of the earth,
i.e., normal building), measure the distance between them, hang the
cable. Where's the compensation? Do they really mean that if they
measured between the bottoms, that it wouldn't have worked because their
cable would be 2 inches too short? Weird.
