Sheesh. I beg to differ with the symmetry. He twice publically called for suicide of a list member. I have never seen that before, even in very nasty newsgroup arguements. Second, he tried to hack Nick's computer. Nick is dependant on his system for his livelyhood, for goodness sakes. He has spammed everyone on the list when his abuses resulted in his posts being moderated. IMHO, if we get everyone to walk on eggshells and watch what we post very carefully so we don't touch off a rage binge, then it still won't help. All it will do is move boundaries in, restricting our posts, while Jeroen will still find a way to become insulted. Then the rage binge will begin. Look at what happened with JDG. He tried not responding, he tried a killfile, he tried responding offlist, but Jeroen still found it necessary to exhibit his rage on list. We cannot control Jeroen's behavior, no matter how we behave. I've seen this pattern before a number of times, and my wife certainly has with her work. Trying to walk on eggshells to keep the peace just doesn't work with this type of behavior. We have three different choices. 1) Live with the rage binges dominating the list every few weeks. 2) Restrict Jeroen's accest with the binges begin. 3) Throw Jeroen offlist. I'd prefer 2 from my vantage point, but its Nick's call. But, then again, hacking was enough for me to throw him off for a year, so I dunno. I'd acually prefer Jeroen with his opinions but without the binges, but that's not realistic. Dan M. _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
