They still almost certainly wouldn't have had enough fuel for that. A think a more likely scenario would be treating the Orbiter as a space station in need of resupply and sending the next Progress cargo vessel there instead of to the ISS and moving supplies across using spacewalks. They'd then have to wait for a few Soyuz launces or another Orbiter to become available to retrieve the crew.
