Apart from the huge leaps of guesswork that others have alluded to, the procurement program for the F35 for Australia is quite unlike what he describes. Australian contributions to the F35 program are on a purely commercial basis at this time. Australia has paid money to Lockheed Martin to be a partner in its development. We have not ordered any planes, though it appears likely we will. But the point this article misses is that Australian firms have tendered for and won jobs on many aspects of development of many US aerospace projects, and the F35 program is one of them. Some contracts have been won by Australian firms. Australia is trying hard to get on board, with (according to a local TV news item some months ago) three firms in Canberra alone tendering for parts of the project.
really shows the level of credibility. To me, a local TV news item some months ago is no better than a high school students home page on the web as a reference source.
