By buying a new motherboard? :-)ROM upgrades require a floppy boot disk. How will we upgrade ROM?
But seriously, if, like me, you still have hardware in use that has the drivers or setup program on floppy disks[*], you definitely got a problem. And if don't have an Internet connection, you can't download the drivers either (yes, there are still people who own a computer but do not have Internet access).
[*]In my case: soundcard, laserprinter, Zip drive, CD burner.
