Actually, Germany was sinking US ships off the coast of North Carolina's
Outer Banks well before Pearl Harbor.
Just as when DPRK illegally started builiding a nuclear weapon, however,
the US once again defied conventional wisdom and did not go rushing
headlong into war at the first chance it got.
