10,191 after the Butlerian Jihad, the revolt against the machines.
At some point they adopted a new calender, so 22,003 might be close to
correct by our calender.
According to the Dune Encyclopedia we are at around -14200 and the year 0 is
the year that the Lion Throne. the Spacing Guild, and Choam establish the
Imperium.

The "House:" trilogy was weaker.
The new trilogy is IMO quite a bit better. Probobly because it isnt tied so
directly to "daddys" books. With more freedom to plot Herbert and Anderson
do a much better job.

Still, its not a "great" book, but it is good enough to be worth the time
invested.
The book starts out with the ancestor of Vladimir Harkonnen cast as a great
hero, and the ancestor of Paul Atreides is a stooge for the evil machines.

If thats not enough to get one to read the book then one probobly wouldnt be
too interested.
