According to the above account the date would be 22003! 10,191 after the Butlerian Jihad, the revolt against the machines. At some point they adopted a new calender, so 22,003 might be close to correct by our calender. According to the Dune Encyclopedia we are at around -14200 and the year 0 is the year that the Lion Throne. the Spacing Guild, and Choam establish the Imperium. > > I read the 1st book in the series and thought it rather unremarkable. Probobly because it isnt tied so directly to "daddys" books. With more freedom to plot Herbert and Anderson do a much better job. Still, its not a "great" book, but it is good enough to be worth the time invested. The book starts out with the ancestor of Vladimir Harkonnen cast as a great hero, and the ancestor of Paul Atreides is a stooge for the evil machines. If thats not enough to get one to read the book then one probobly wouldnt be too interested. _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
