Family Guy - Edgier than the Simpsons in some ways, this cartoon never got the
attention it deserved
Which brings to mind "Clerks: Animated Series". Now, THAT'S a show that never got the attention it deserved!! I have the DVD collection of the episodes. It includes the shows that ABC never aired. After watching them, you realize why: this show was NOT meant for a network owned by Disney.

My favorite: the episode where George Lucas takes the stand in front of "Judge" Reinhold. Randall plays Dante's defense attorney, and out of the blue, calls George Lucas to the stand:

Randall: "State your name and last movie".
Lucas: "George Lucas. Episode 1, Phantom Menace".
Randall: "Do you really think Episode 1 is as good a movie as Empire?".
Lucas: "Well.. yes.. I think it's the best movie I ever made".
Randall: "Your honor, permission to treat this witness as hostile.
Mr. Lucas, isn't it TRUE that you knew this was a BAD MOVIE? That you wrote it over a weekend but you kept telling everybody you had it written for years?"
Lucas: "Well, yeah.. but the Power of Myth.."
Randall: "I WANT MY 8 BUCKS BACK!!"

George Lucas is followed by Steven Spielberg "What was the deal with Hook?", Joel Schumacher "Man, "Batman and Robin" was soooo GAY!!", Woody Allen and Spike Jones. It's in the same line of parody as the Simpsons, and the jokes in this show are fast and furious. I highly recommend it.

While it may be true that the characters of Jay and Silent Bob are not mass-appeal, no one can argue that Kevin Smith has a singular wit for comedy and satire, especially when it comes to popular culture.

IMHO, "Clerks: Animated" should've been picked by either Comedy Central or HBO from the beginning.

Along with Family Guy. :)
