Given the quality of wines from Italy Australia US etc this would not be much of hardship. But there would have to be more popular support for the war in the US for us to succeed. We are actually in quite a pickle now. If we don't go to war now Iraq and the terrorists will see us as weak. Sadaam will stop cooperating immediately and the terrorists will emboldened. If we do go to war we risk at the very least destroying whatever sympathy we had in the world after 9/11. Now I have no illusions about the motives of France and Germany. They are purely cynical. The popular outpouring against the war is I think more complex. People correctly fear that we will create chaos that will plunge us into a worldwide confligration and destroy the international economy. And we are disliked because we are the only remaining power and because Bush and company have behaved so arogantly towards the rest of the world over the past 2 years. I see no good coming out of any of this _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
