Interesting data from a Gallup poll conducted in 39 countries: http://www.roymorgan.com.au/index.cfm?0A329872-50BA-1DC3-6522-E2A0B202423B&m oduleID=100000020&morganPoll=100000535&docType=1 In favour of military action against Iraq: 1 Only if sanctioned by the United Nations 2 Unilaterally by America and its allies 3 Total support military action 4 Under no circumstances 5 Don't know 1 2 3 4 5 % % % % % Australia 56 12 68 27 5 USA 34 33 67 21 12 New Zealand 52 8 60 32 8 Netherlands 51 7 58 38 4 Ireland 50 8 58 39 3 Canada 46 10 56 36 8 UK Excl. Netherlands is the most in favour of all European countries, and fourth overall. The main difference for the US is the proportion willing to go to war without UN support. Also interesting to my mind is the relatively high support by Germany(48%), yet in another question asked about whether their country should actually participate in the action, only 24% of Germans agreed. This was The poll was published two weeks ago; not sure haw much views have changed since it was held. Worth checking out the complete report.
