No, it is entirely honest. Neither I nor any other advocate for the war of whom I am aware thinks that this should be done _solely_ because it would be good for the people of Iraq. That's not enough. But it would, in fact, be good for the people of Iraq. That's virtually indisputable. If someone claims to be arguing against the war because they are concerned about the people of Iraq (which is what most of the war protesters are claiming to be doing), then it makes sense to point out that: 1. None of them seemed to care about the people of Iraq six months ago 2. Being ruled by Saddam Hussein is not, in fact, good for the people of Iraq And protesting the war is protesting to keep Saddam Hussein in power. There isn't a middle ground alternative. It does not exist. The war happens and Hussein is overthrown, or it does not and he is not. No third choice. > > > In this particular case, it is striking that the > ANSWER marches and > > rallies are so large, and that the people in them > vigorously applaud the > > vilest anti-semitic and anti-American slurs. > Doesn't this tell us > > Where on earth did anti-jewishness come into it? > Which slurs are these that > you're talking about? There are an almost infinite number of others, but that just for a start. Gautam __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
