It happened a _lot_ then. It's probably the same
people doing it. I remember Carl Vuono telling me
that the most frightening moments of his life were
walking through JFK airport in uniform during Vietnam.
I've heard many people who protested the war say that
they weren't attacking the soldiers, but I've _never_
heard one of the soldiers say that, even ones who
ended up leading war protests and would say - quite
frankly - that they had great difficulty doing so
because many of the other protesters didn't want to
associate with ex-soldiers. I can't imagine the
mindset of the people involved, and I honestly don't
want to - even the thought of it makes me feel vaguely
dirty.

Don't forget the people who bombed or burned recruitment offices and ROTC buildings on campuses . . .

Almighty Ruler of the all,
Whose Power extends to great and small,
Who guides the stars with steadfast law,
Whose least creation fills with awe,
O grant thy mercy and thy grace,
To those who venture into space.
