An article I read in Discover this afternoon reminded me that chimpanzees laugh, but because of their different vocal apparatus, it sounds more like a pant. So, what would neo-chimp laughter sound like? By the Startide era, they can speak like humans, so they probably have very human-like vocal cords. In fact, they probably got those vocal cords from human gene splices. So, does neo-chimp laughter sound like humans, like natural chimps, or somewhere in between? ______________________________________________________________________ Steve Sloan .........
