I feel kinda stupid myself, because I didn't realize that
the B-Sharps' final rooftop concert on Simpsons was a
parody of a real-life event... Especially since the rest
of the episode had a lot of Beatles take-offs, including
a Yoko clone... ;-)

Not only that, but a memorable cameo by George Harrison. He stops his limo in front of the "final concert" of the B-Sharps on the rooftop at Moe's. He takes one look at it, and says "Ah.. it's been done". ;-)

I feel ambivalent at this situation. On one hand, I see McCartney trying to recreate a historical moment that went awry to begin with. He is, after all, Paul McCartney; one half of perhaps the greatest songwriting team in rock history. On the other hand, he's not exactly doing the Beatles, as a band, a service. He's servicing himself, while the Beatles were John Lennon's band. He was the leader. He hand-picked Paul.

Of course, one can look at this through many different angles. Like a computer programmer looking for a solution to a particular problem. I do know one thing: I'd love to be there.

I also know one thing: this time the cops won't show up at the doorstep of Apple to tell him to stop.
