I've also a smattering of Norweigian, and am fluent in ASL. Anyone else have experience with putting down a language for 8-10 years and returning to it? I'm wondering if the pathways are still in my brain, or if I'm going to have to suffer for years relearning the names for the colors, conjugating verbs, etc..

My wife was born in Japan (her Mom is Japanese, her Dad a US serviceman) and lived there until she was nine or ten. When she came to the U.S., they made her stop speaking Japanese so she could learn English. She can't speak or read any Japanese anymore, beyond knowing a few words.
