It means it's an image.  Like a photograph.  Not something you could
manipulate with a word processor or other text editing program, the way
you can with most of the pages you cite from various sites.  Trying to
highlight text from one of those pages of uncorrected proofs would be like
my trying to highlight the text of the photograph of my
great-grandmother's grave and expecting it to transfer to plain text
e-mail.  (Have to actually type it in.  At least once, anyway; if you
really care about how my great-grandmother's gravestone reads, go to
http://www.rootsweb.com, do a search on Harriet Meade JONES (the last name
is the one all in caps, separate field from the first part of the name)
and find the Post 'Em I stuck on her entry in Randy Jones' database.)
