I'm sick of being told what a pinko-commie I am, _and_ I need some time by myself to vacation. I'm thinking of heading to Europe, preferably Belgium/Holland/Scandanvia. Anyone have any advice or things to point out?

Spare yourself the trouble of specifically going to Brussels unless you need to have a connection from there to another part of Europe. You'll be very disappointed. Much more fun are Antwerp Gent and Mechelen. Antwerp and Gent are very good for a night on the town and Mechelen is very nice to do some sight seeing. If you need accomodation for a longer period don't stay in the Netherlands or Scandinavia. Belgium (although very conservative in nature) is far better for food, drink and hotels. (Less expensive and far better value for money). If you base yourself carefully in Belgium you have the possibillity to make trips to lots of places like England, France, the Netherlands and Germany. A car is very good to have, but public transport is actually amazingly doable if a tad time consuming and for my taste a little expensive. Roads are hell if you need to travel during rush hour and public transport is hell if you have to travel outside of the major population areas or during the evening/night.
A must see in the Netherlands are Amsterdam ( I'm talking about the museums there, not that other stuff) and the Rotterdam harbour and perhaps if time allows our backyard.... :o)
Personally I did like Stockholm very much, but if you are of a thursty nature you'll wither.

If you wanne know specifics about the Benelux and surrounding countries just feel free to mail me off-list. And I'll see what answers I can come up with.
