Couldn't evil be defined as something that causes net loss/pain/cost to the larger community, for no benefit other than gratification on the part of the transgressor?
It seems to me that belief in evil is a religion.
Or perhaps you can demonstrate the existence of evil through science, without resorting to faith?
Given that this has occurred throughout human history, evil exists in our world...
