While it originated in the newsgroup talk.bizarre, this term (usually written "*plonk*") is now (1994) widespread on Usenet as a form of public ridicule.
Is it okay if I mentioned that I used the term "plonk" earlier today on another list which was one of several I am on which someone spammed with a message which contained a URL which contained the word "aryan"?
