I found it fascinating when I found out how the great advancements of the
Muslim world were all a direct result of the Islamic religion. The great
advancements in mathematics and algebra and all that were so that people
throughout the world could correctly know which direction to pray towards
Mecca. I'd always been told that the Muslim world was so much more open
towards scientific advancement than Europe during the equivalent time
periods. But I guess it was only towards advancement that related to
religion.
