A 2000 Pew poll reported that 70 percent of Americans thought it was important to have a strongly religious president, and last year, a survey by the same group found that almost 50 percent of respondents felt churches and other religious groups should express their views on social and political subjects.

Well gee, there's a shocker. The Pew Poll found Americans are all terribly interested in exactly what they're trying to encourage. This is like Microsoft reporting that 3/4 of Americans want them to take over the world and think Bill Gates is a studmuffin. Ya just can't trust the source. :)
The Pew Charitable Trust: http://www.pewtrusts.com/about/index.cfm?image=img2
"The Pew Charitable Trusts support nonprofit activities in the areas of culture, education, the environment, health and human services, public policy and religion. Based in Philadelphia, with an office in Washington, D.C., the Trusts make strategic investments that encourage and support citizen participation in addressing critical issues and effecting social change."
I'm sure they do excellent work, but were there any polls done by unbiased people/organizations who didn't actually have an interest in increasing the role of religion in our country?
