I happened to be in Detroit doing a customer visit when the outage hit. Detroit was low on the list for places to bring back online. Morning of the 15th it was still offline, and at that point the airport was already backlogged. Rather than waiting around in a hotel (with no power, food, water...) for a few days and nothing to do (no 'net, no stores, no...) except sit in the car (dwindling gas reserves) and listen to the radio, the group I was with used our remaining cell phone power to reschedule our flights out of Chicago and drove there this morning.

I'm glad to hear that the Brinellers who're living in the affected area are (so far) doing well and reporting in.

All in all, it made for an exciting trip. :)
