I don't think so. There have been several cases posted on slashdot over
the past few years where Microsoft knew about a security problem but did
not or would not fix it for a long time.

Now THAT is great advice. The reason that most of these virii and worms
are on M$ software is probably not because they have the most insecure
system, but rather because they so dominate the market share. If we
had a much more diverse OS world, then these things would be less of a
problem.
