I've hit the magic 36-week date. If I go into labor at this point, in
theory, neither baby should need to spend any time in the NICU, and they
should both be able to go home when I'm released.
I have 2 weeks in which to go into labor before they start intervening
to make me give birth, one way or another.
I had a quick ultrasound on Tuesday, mostly to check on the positioning
of both babies; they're both still head-down. The ultrasound tech
figured as long as we were there, he'd try to measure them, as well.
The girl's head is very difficult to get a good reading on, as it's
started into my pelvis, and the best he could do was tell me she's
around 6 lbs. right now. The boy is right around 7 pounds, according to
the measurements. If I go another couple of weeks, he may be pushing 8
pounds, and she'll be bigger than she is now, anyway.
My body is tired of supporting all that weight right there.
It would be nice to go into labor next week late on Tuesday or early on
Wednesday, that would probably have them born on their grandfather's
birthday, and that would be a very nice present for him. (Seeing as we
don't have anything tangible to send him, and the best we'll be able to
do at this point is a card, I think that would be good. Plus, fewer
*tota* September birthdays to remember, due to sharing. We've already
got Dan, his dad, and my sister's fianc with September birthdays.)
Anyway, I'm just kind of at that, "I'd like for this to be over, thank
you" stage. If anyone has suggestions for things to speed up the
arrival of labor that have *worked* for someone, I'd be interested. :)
(I've already been warned against castor oil and jumping up and down,
but the green sauce at Chuy's worked for someone I've met.)
