I downloaded it at work, the big picture. I have two questions. Is the supernova they are talking about in the upper right galaxy? If not, what is it?

And why does that bright image in the upper right and the red star in the middle right have....rays?....in the image? Most everything is a pin point of light, except for those two sources.
