WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Republican National Committee
Chairman Ed Gillespie has served notice that the GOP will likely defend
marriage in the party's 2004 platform. Further, Mr. Gillespie correctly
pointed out in a Washington Times interview today that "religious
bigotry" is being promoted by homosexual activists, who are attempting to
use government to force their views on everyone.

"Mr. Gillespie's statement is a breath of fresh air," said Robert Knight,
director of the Culture and Family Institute, an affiliate of Concerned
Women for America. "His basic point is that morality is not bigotry, and
that trying to undermine family values using government force is
intolerance in action. Let's hope that his party leaders join him in
standing firm for the truth."

Gillespie said, "I accept people for who they are - and love them. That
doesn't mean I have to agree or turn my back on the tenets of my faith
when it comes to homosexuality. I think when people say, 'Well, no.
That's not enough that you accept me for who I am, you have to agree with
- and condone - my choice,' that, to me, is religious bigotry, and I
believe that's intolerant. I think they are the ones that are crossing
the line here."

"We hope Mr. Gillespie's clear, compassionate but firm message encourages
others to take a stand against radical activists' plan to redefine
marriage through intimidation," said Knight.

"It's not only marriage that is under attack. The Boy Scouts and the
Salvation Army have experienced the bigotry of homosexual activists, who
are trying to shut them down if they won't surrender their God-given
freedom to maintain their own moral standards," Knight added. "We hope
Mr. Gillespie's good example leads to a more spirited public defense of
not only marriage but the basic freedoms of speech, religion and
association."

-----

Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now
doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same
thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the
liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the
Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry
directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything
suffered by any minority in history.
