When I first gave these characters life,
I said, as I looked at the page,
"It's not complicated
Their actions as stated
The dummy, the hero, the sage.

Good reasons and words with a flair,
(And I've plenty of that, and to spare),
For an author's confessions
As ersatz transgressions
Are used almost everywhere!"

To write what you know of your strife,
When I first gave these characters life.

I said, when I first gave them life,
"It is plain to the veriest dunce
That every plot twist
(The hero was not kissed)
Will see of the logic at once.
They will know that I've thought it all out
Revelations ---they all come about."

But the characters written
With their own lives now smitten
Their OWN choices they do now shout!
My words they will cut with a knife
The ones when I first gave them life!
