I was looking for a local bank

www sovereignbank.com

but the website fails right away. Hardly anything important, just wondering how I can pinpoint the problem? I mean, I know it's not me just wondering where it is.

When I go to an internet PDF using adobe 6, the browser disappears from the toolbar. If I minimize it it's gone. This causes problems when I try to open another browser window. I know how to close the application, just wondering if other have the same problem.

Along those lines, has anyone ever completely removed netscape or (spit) IE? I was using that proximonton for a while, but it messed up my router so I removed it. Now, no matter what I try, some websites won't work. For instance I buy books on half.com (an ebay partner) through ebates. I can look at half.com directly, but it won't open through ebates. Heck, IE won't open hotmail, it says my cookies aren't enabled even though they are. At work I can't look at half.com directly because they block ebay, but I can use it through ebates. I just want to get a fresh start here at home. I'm almost thinking of getting a new hard drive and starting over with XP. Scratch that, I just checked my HDs. My main drive is only 20GB, with 12GB used, my second drive is 80GB with 55GB of free space. Sounds like a winter project.

Last: while most of my googling is okay, I'm getting tired of those second tier searching bots infiltrating my search returns. What's the opinion of favorite search engines? I can't think of the name now, but I used to love a search engine that would redefine downward as you searched. If I typed in England and did a search, then Kings on those results, then Henry on those results, I got exactly what I wanted. That's a broad description, but it should show what I mean. Google will do the same thing, but the returns are still not as exact as I liked.

Okay, really the last: My hometown has a message board/forum. They were seeking donations to keep it open. While the price was nominal I was wondering how much it really costs to operate something like this. I'm not considering this as a business venture, but I'm wondering along these lines: if someone in their house set up a computer that was dedicated for a forum what would it take to do correctly? Could an older 'puter do it with a different OS? I'm not worried about the costs, unless it was astronomical. If a person already has a cable modem and a router, other than the computer cost and the electricity (and the time) it should be free, right? We should be able to get a free URl, because it's not for profit? I'm probably very confused about this. The less you do something the more you forget.
